PROJECT

The Boy and The Bear

Culver City, CA

The coffee roasting visionaries at The Boy & The Bear came to us with a concept for the brand’s latest location and a newly-leased space in Culver City. Their goal was to create a serene cafe and workspace for creatives and connoisseurs. With each store’s design, they seek to impart a different aspect of Colombia’s vibrant culture and unique terrain, an homage to the magical land from which they exclusively source their coffee.

The Grey Store’s interior build out drew its inspiration from the foggy Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Andes mountain ranges. To achieve this, we used concrete as a primary material, then softened it with exotic greenery and added pops of copper accents throughout, providing visual interest among the neutral palette. The result is a misty, fresh feeling where the contrast of cool concrete to natural elements combine for an environment that is at once sleek and warm.
